In the most recent episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Chloe Bennet‘s character Skye was told more about her parents and her background…. but it’s not just that Skye’s parents are revealed — there’s something special about her as well.
Last week, we spoke with Ms. Bennet to try to find out if she has any idea yet what that special ability might be. Does she have any idea? “None at all,” she told us at the top secret S.H.I.E.L.D. installation where the show is filmed.
“Before it was like ‘who are my parents?’ and now it’s ‘what am I? Am I an alien or am I a She-Hulk?’ There are so many different options,” she said, admitting that she, too, wants to know what is coming for her.
“It’s as painful as it is for the audience. Viewers have to wait a week or however many weeks there are between each episodes. For us, we’re waiting for the next script. I keep reloading my e-mail. I’m like ‘so. Are we going to get the new script?’ Because at this point in the season, it’s moving really, really fast. It’s going to be non-stop from here on out,” Chloe promised, again pointing out all of the questions she has as part of the “surprise” of doing the show. “What am I? Am I human? Am I Asgardian? Am I some sort of other alien? So that was a big surprise. But it’s also been a big surprise to be able to have my story unfold so much from the beginning. My dad’s a huge fan of the show, and watching the pilot over the holidays [with him], it’s like a completely different character that I’m playing now.”
Speaking of Asgardians, Jaimie Alexander will be showing up later this season as the Lady Sif from the Thor movies. Might she and Skye get to interact at some point? “I cannot say,” Chloe responded. “You will see why I cannot say in the next episode. There’s a big, big shocker in the next episode.”
Does this shocker have any tie to whatever powers Skye might have? “I can’t say,” she repeated, reminding us that Marvel is “the real life S.H.I.E.L.D.” when it comes to secrets.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with a new episode February 4. Stay tuned for more interviews from the set!
